
Classes
Classes are offered to the public two to three times a year and are generally held once a week for a six-week session. The AKC Canine Good Citizen test is offered to any qualified dog. Classes include: Puppy Socialization, Obedience, Rally, and Agility.
Registration for Fall Classes will be Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm at our location on Prosperity Lane off Beaufort Street. From downtown Aiken, travel east on Richland Avenue and turn left on Beaufort Street. Prosperity Lane will be on the right side after Willow Run Road. From Rudy Mason Bypass, turn west onto Willow Run Road and right onto Beaufort Street. Prosperity Lane is on the right.
Classes will be held (weather permitting) September 23 through October 28 (every Saturday for six weeks).
Class fees are $120.00 per dog for six-week session. Please note we only accept cash or checks made out to Palmetto Dog Club – no credit cards. Please bring a current Rabies certificate and completed class sign-up forms (available for download below). Please also bring your dog to class sign up. This allows the trainers to evaluate your dog and get him/her fitted for a training collar.
PUBLIC CLASS REGISTRATION FORM AND LIABILITY RELEASE
Some classes may be split, combined or cancelled depending on attendance. Days and times for each class will be posted after registration and will be subject to change – most are on Saturdays.
Classes Offered:
Puppy Socialization
Teaches the puppy how to get along with other dogs and people while learning the basic obedience commands to be a well-behaved puppy and graduate to obedience.
Basic Obedience
Dogs and handlers are taught the basic skills of heeling, sitting, down, extended stay, recall and overall good behavior. The AKC Canine Good Citizen test will be offered at the end of class.
Rally
The next step for dogs that have completed basic obedience and want to improve their skills following a precise course of commands.
Beginner Agility
For dogs that have completed obedience and have good handler focus. Evaluation may be necessary for suitability.
