PRESIDENT
KAREN DE CAMP

Karen has always enjoyed the deep connection and relationship we can form with our dogs.  Hers began with a lovely, compliant Golden Retriever named Belle.  She realized the importance of training when she adopted Pete, a six-month old Boxer mix. After shadowing long-time trainer Susi Cohen, Karen attended the National K9 dog training school to sharpen her skills. She joined the Palmetto Dog in 2014 and began instructing in 2016. She served as Vice President for several years before becoming President in 2021. She currently enjoys doing agility and rally with her dog Nyxie.

SECRETARY
ANGELA LINDELL

Angela came to Palmetto Dog Club in 2021 with a puppy that needed training and a shy dog that could benefit from socialization. She particopated in public obedience and rally classes and joined the club in 2022. She has expanded her training knowledge by being an Assistant in the public classes since 2023. Angela enjoys seeing the progress the dogs and handlers make with their training.

Angela currently has two dogs: Maisy, a 4 yr old lab mix and Maverick, a 4.5 yr old Doberman. Maverick participates in member's obedience classes and she has hopes of training further in rally. She is pictured above with Maisy after winning a ribbon at the club's Rally Trial.

TREASURER
KATIE ROTH

Katie is a lifelong dog lover. She grew up with dogs from a young age including an Irish Setter, a German Shepherd, and several Miniature Schnauzers. She became interested in dog training when she got her first Giant Schnauzer, Fritz, who required extra socialization. They advanced in obedience and attained the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title. She has also excelled in agility and obedience with her Standard Schnauzer, Sammi and in obedience and rally with her second Giant Schnauzer, Maximus. Katie is now training her third Giant Schnauzer, Petra, in obedience and agility. Katie joined the Palmetto Dog Club in 2017 and became an assistant instructor in 2018. She has served as the club's Treasurer since 2019.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
EMILY GAINEY

Emily Gainey has been a PDC member for several years. "When I got my younger Australian cattle dog, River, a few years ago, I knew I needed to brush up on my skills. I was looking for a group that cared about dogs, tried and true training methods - not the latest fad or something that was harmful to the dog. I needed a group that was very familiar with herding dogs and strong-willed dogs. I also wanted a group that is like an extended family. Palmetto Dog Club fit that bill." Currently, Emily has three male Australian cattle dogs of various ages, Badger, "the old man," (15), Maverick, "the redhead," (5), and River "the baby," (2). Her "love for [the breed] started with Sweetheart", who was dropped off outside the gate to her farm. Sweetheart helped Emily manage both horses and riding students. Before that, Emily had worked with Labradors and foxhounds. Emily says what she enjoys most about training is the connection with the dogs. Each one has a different personality, and therefore needs a slightly different approach. What works for one doesn’t always work for the other. She says working with her dogs keeps her on my toes, and learning and helps her become a better person. As our Communications Coordinator, she is the voice behind our emails about weather alerts and club announcements, and Facebook updates. According to Emily, she decided to become more involved in the administrative side of the club because, "PDC welcomed me and my dogs with open arms making me feel part of the family. I enjoy helping others and wanted to give back and help others find their connections with their dogs."
